And no one ever knew what happened
He always had standards and rules for the girl he’ll marry, and he wasn’t to marry any girl who didn’t have them. They were written as points in a foolscap paper that’s put in a place no one knew. After 15 years, he took out this paper and thought of making ticks in front of every achieved point; but the strange thing was that he hadn’t found any of his rules in her. He kept on reading the points but still nothing met the girl he had married. At the end of the paper, came the last one which stated, “She should be entirely perfect, and would never leave me under any conditions.” He looked at the sentence, fractioned it into two parts, and made ticks in front of the first part, he made many many ticks, as much as all the points that were written. He then stopped at the second part, closed the paper and put it back to it’s unknown-to-anyone place. No one ever knew what happened to her or why did he always leave the second part unmarked; but every time someone asked him about her, his eyes and heart would break into tears and he would say, “Let’s go check on the children, that’s what she asked me to always do just before she left.” He would then go take them into his arms, hug them tightly and cry till he falls asleep.
